Luis Leeds first off the rank in Formula 4 double-header

Luis Leeds has struck first in the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 double-round weekend at Phillip Island, taking the lights-to-flag victory with a 5.9193s lead over his rivals in Race 1.

Leeds said:

“It’s good to start with that. It’s important to keeping chipping away,”

“When you get a car as good as the one AGI has given me, it’s not a hard task. I make sure I go out there to tick all the boxes and bring it back in first place.

“I’ve said it for years, this is my favourite track. It’s just so smooth, suits my driving style, and I look forward to coming here every single year.”

Team BRM driver Ryan Suhle finished second despite a rolled ankle, battling with Lochie Hughes until the Gold Coast racer fell back with a car issue. Antonio Astuti crossed the line third after starting in sixth, but was disqualified when the car was found to be under the minimum weight, with Harry Hayek promoted to the last step of the podium.

Luis Leeds currently sits at the head of the championship on 135 points, miles ahead of Suhle in second, on 88 points, with Lochie Hughes and Antonio Astuti tied for third on 85 points.
