Oscar Piastri's title-winning Formula Renault lands in Australia
Oscar Piastri’s Formula Renault FR049, used by the young Australian to win the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup title, has landed in Australia.
With the help of family and sponsors, Piastri secured the car from team R-ace GP, after Piastri claimed the title in Abu Dhabi last November.
On his road to becoming the first Australian to take out the title, Piastri scored seven wins, 4 further podiums, five pole positions, and five fastest laps.
“I’m thrilled to have the car at home,” said Piastri.
“You often hear racing drivers talk about trying to find their cars from special moments like winning a championship, so to have this one in my possession is something I’ll cherish for years to come. Hopefully, a few more cars will join it in the future.”
Piastri participated in the FIA Formula 3 pre-season in Bahrain last week, and will travel to Melbourne next week to attend the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix will be Piastri's first official appearance for Renault Australia and the Renault F1 Team after he was recently announced as a member of the Renault Sport Academy.
