Trident Motorsport aiming to continue high of Formula 2 victory at Monza

Coming from a winning weekend at Zandvoort, where Clément Novalak secured his first win in the series, Trident Motorsport is aiming to continue with the same high level of performance at its home racetrack, Monza.

The FIA Formula 2 Championship is set for round 12 of 2023 at the historic Monza circuit. The event at the northern Italian venue is certainly one of the most anticipated of the season for Trident Motorsport, especially coming from the convincing victory achieved with Clément Novalak in the Feature Race of the previous round at Zandvoort. The team aims to keep the momentum and performance in front of the home crowd.

The outstanding success by the 21-year-old Avignon native, his first in the series coming with the added benefit of the fastest lap, provided the team with extra motivation ahead of the home race. Everyone is aware that, with thorough preparation work and maximum determination, it will be possible to run at the same pace in Italy.

The famous 5.793-km racetrack is hosting the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, and no possible outcome is off the table. Each team will have to build from scratch due to the unique character of Monza, an extremely fast circuit. The high speeds are broken by three chicanes and three medium-high speed corners, the challenging Lesmos and Parabolica, which require great corner entry stability.

The cars will have little downforce, in order to reach their maximum speeds on the straights. Long trains of cars running with their DRS open are a possibility. Unlike some can imagine, overtaking is not easy and, despite the slipstreams, passes must be accurately prepared.

At Monza, Trident Motorsport, Roman Stanëk and Novalak are aiming to confirm the good level of performance of the Netherlands, and keep the growing momentum of late.

Giacomo Ricci

Team Manager, Trident FIA Formula 2 Team

"We come from a convincing win in Zandvoort, where we returned to the top step of the podium in the Feature Race, deservedly won by Clément Novalak. However, we will start from scratch in Monza. We will have to give our best effort to deliver a high-level run at our home track and achieve more satisfaction. The Monza race was prepared with great care and attention to detail. We want to continue the season with another competitive performance".

The FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend will start on Friday at 11:05 for the 45-minute free practice session. Qualifying is scheduled for the same day at 16:00, while the Sprint Race will go underway at 14:15 on Saturday. The Feature Race will wrap up the weekend on Sunday at 9:55. All the action will be broadcasted live by the Sky Sports F1 network.
